Expertise, Caring and Support
These care services are provided by a team of specialist doctors, nurses, counsellors, social workers and bereavement specialists, all of whom are supported by a team of administrators, fundraising staff and volunteers
The Hospice supports patients with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. We emphasise relief from pain and other distressing symptoms, integrate the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care and offer a support system to help the patient live as actively as possible. We also give assistance to enable the family to cope during the patient's illness and their own bereavement.
Our Services
Home Care
Working alongside GPs and District Nurses, our Clinical Nurse Specialists visit and treat patients in their own homes and are on call 24 hours a day.
Day Hospice
Harris HospisCare recognises each person referred to our care as an individual with differing desires and needs. Our Day Hospice offers tailor-made therapeutic programmes designed to achieve the best quality of life for each patient.
Hospital Palliative Care
The Princess Royal University Hospital Palliative Care Team is provided by Harris HospisCare. This is a Consultant led team of Clinical Nurse Specialists who offer expert advice to all patients in any care setting within the Hospital.
Lymphoedema Service
Although technically incurable, our specialist Lymphoedema nurses can do much to help manage and alleviate the symptoms of this condition.
Social Work and Counselling
Our team of experienced counsellors are able to support patients and their families while the illness runs its course, continuing afterwards to help family and friends cope with bereavement.
Bereavement Service
Losing a loved one can turn your life upside down. Our Bereavement Services Co-ordinator helps you through by providing sympathetic and timely assistance.
"The hospice is my lifeline. Everybody is so kind and caring and there is always somebody to talk to if you need advice."
