We were regular visitors to the previous Bullfinch carvery and when it closed for refurbishment we awaited the result with interest. The whole site has been well upgraded and congratulations are due to the designer for a first-class job. The Bullfinch is well staffed and we received a welcome with menus quickly produced. However this new operation has not yet settled down. We waited an hour for the three meals: two were piping hot and one, including soup, was just warm. Apologies for delay were accepted. (the waiter had forgotten to submit our order to the kitchen). This restaurant has some quality potential but a word of warning: Half a pint of Spitfire Ale costs £1.60 and a glass of house white wine is £4.60. For the first time in my life I did not leave a tip. Alan

The White Hart at Brasted (Not to be confused with the White Horse, also on the A25). For those who have not been to this restaurant/public house a surprise awaits. The White Hart was the 'local' for the Biggin Hill pilots in WW2, and is well featured in books like 'Fighter Boys' and the best seller 'First Light' by Geoffrey Wellum, a Battle of Britain veteran. The unique original black-out board signed in chalk by pilots, many of whom were household name heroes, is now protected behind glass and framed picture records add interest to the visit. The food presented is good. There is a full menu reasonably priced and an attentive smiling staff. The real ale served is aptly named Spitfire. A good car park is on site. Well recommended for an informal good meal. Alan F.
