Café Plaza

Published: 16th August 2007 21:30

Petts Wood, Kent

Boasting a large seating area and a prime location on Station Square, Café Plaza would seem to have it all but would you agree with this when it comes to their food...?

My favourite dish at Café Plaza is...

They pay too much attention to X and not enough to Y...

What do you think?

Cafe Plaza is convenient for those in the Pett's Wood and surrounding area's to nip into for a spot of lunch, or an evening meal. On my last visit I chose a lamb shank dish. The lamb was delicious but it didn't come with potato's or vegetables. It came with a salad only which I didn't enjoy with a hot lamb shank. It would be nice if a choice was offered of Vegetables and potatoes, or even rice to go with the shank. On the whole, the food is good and I have enjoyed my meal when I visited both at lunchtime and in the evening.

This a good place for lunch. The service is good, the food freshly prepared and the ambience welcoming. There are daily "specials" although they could occasionally vary the main menu a bit, or include a few "light" meals for those who don't want a full meal, e.g. baked potatoes, or a couple of vegetarian dishes.

I enjoyed this place the first time I went in but I have to say they don't cater well at all for families (or those with small children) Twice I have been in and they have not had enough child seats for the tables. Also I sometimes get the impression I'm being hurried (possibly because I have only popped in to share a few drinks with friends rather than sitting down for a proper meal) Food is nice but atmosphere a little noisy and they like clanging the plates!

Best in Petts Wood. Just right, with good food, good service, in a pleasant place and at a fair price.

I have eaten at this restaurant twice and ordered the calamari, which is one of my favourites. It is the only restaurant I have ever been to - in England or abroad - where it has bone/shell in it. The first time I thought it was a mistake - the second time I spoke to the waitress who was extremely rude, and she said that it always has bone in it - if it is proper calamari. So - if you like calamari beware if you are used to it without bone!
My husband likes it because it has men serving (otherwise he says it's like having dinner at home!).

I have been to Cafe Plaza twice and have not been impressed once, i think the food is horrible to say the least and they seem to want to rush you out as quickly as you walked through the door!
We had our starter which was dry and over cooked, as soon as the waiter took the plates away i lent forward to put my arms on the table when all of a sudden he came back with our mains, me and my husband looked at each other in disbelief that it could be ready so quickly, not even giving us the time to let our starters go down. The mains were equally as bad as the starters, very tasteless and poorly presented, i could cook something at home of much better quality and wont have to pay for the Privilege, next time that's exactly what i will do when someone suggests going there for a bite.
