Chanelle McCoy, the ‘first lady' of horse racing, married to champion jockey AP McCoy, will be taking on Channel 4 Racing presenter Emma Spencer in a celebrity cocktail making challenge the night before the John Smith's Grand National festival begins in Liverpool. The girls will compete behind the bar in Hanover Street Social to make the best cocktail and raise money for Alder Hey Imagine Appeal - the official charity of the John Smith's Grand National. The event ‘Under Starters Orders' on 11th April will launch the charities fundraising activities over the racing period.
Guests will be treated to some delicious cocktails made and served by Chanelle and Emma while their food will be cooked by celebrity teams in the kitchen. Organisers will reveal the full line up of celebrities in the teams nearer the time.
Chanelle who attended the event last year as a guest in Salt House Tapas said:
"I'm delighted to take part and think it will be really fun! I enjoyed myself last year in the audience the cocktails were delicious so I'll have to get practising!"
Emma who competed against actress Sheree Murphy in the kitchen last year said: "I had a great time last year even though it was tough in the kitchen so I was more than happy to get involved again this year and hope we can raise lots of cash for Alder Hey!"
Celebrities will battle it out in Hanover Street Social restaurant in Liverpool city centre.
Owner Patrick Smith added: "Under Starters Orders is a fantastic event; last year the celebrities gave it their all.
We make sure all the celebrities take part in a training programme so everything runs smoothly on the night.
This year looks set to once again be a great evening, more than half the seats have sold already and they only went on sale last week."
Under Starters Orders is sponsored by Midshire Business Systems Ltd and Hanover Street Social. Tickets for the event are available from the Imagine Appeal office in Alder Hey by contacting 0151 252 5364 or rachel.donohoe@alderhey.nhs.uk
