Actress Suzanne Collins of Brookside attended a cooking master class today on Alder Hey's cancer ward today. The ward has its own specialist kitchen and dedicated chef so it can quickly and easily meet the requirements of its patients and it was certainly smiles all round when Suzanne arrived. The talented actress is in preparation for a unique celebrity cooking challenge ‘Under Starters Orders' which will take place on April 6th to raise money for Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. Suzanne will be pitting her talents against Coronation Street favourites Charlie Lawson and Andrew Lancel, Sheree Murphy from Hollyoaks and Emma Spencer from Channel Four Racing is also amongst the celebrity chefs.
Suzanne who will be doing a cocktail challenge on the night said,
"Meeting these patients today has been fantastic. It's definitely made me even more up for the challenge. I took part in the event last year and had the best time ever! Then I was in the kitchen so this time I'm doing a cocktail challenge behind the bar and I'm really looking forward to it! The Alder Hey Imagine Appeal is a great charity to be involved with and I hope we can raise lots of money for the children in Alder Hey. And of course I'm going to try my best to win!"
Celebrities will battle it out in the Salt House Tapas in Liverpool ONE. Owner Patrick Smith said,
"Even though it's celebrities who'll be taking part in our kitchen they won't be getting an easy ride! We want everyone to enjoy the night but it has to be a challenge to bring out their competitive streak!
The event is the launch of Alder Hey Imagine Appeal's Grand National fundraising as they've been chosen as the official charity of the John Smith's Grand National for the sixth year running. Hotels such as the Liverpool Jury's Inn and Crowne Plaza and restaurants around the city have signed up to add a £1 donation to bills over the three day festival to support Alder Hey Imagine Appeal.
Tickets for the event which costs £40 including food are available from the Imagine Appeal office in Alder Hey by calling 0151 252 5364.
