Residents urged to help make their communities safer

Police in Lancashire are encouraging members of the public to play an active role in neighbourhood policing in their area.
The move is part of Not in My Neighbourhood Week - a national, week-long campaign which aims to raise public awareness of all the work being carried out by local agencies to tackle crime and make communities safer.
Residents are being invited to provide feedback on their own experiences of neighbourhood policing in the community and find out more about the work that is going on to combat crime and anti-social behaviour in their area.
The campaign, run by the Home Office, takes place between October 13 and 17 and will see a variety activities take place across Lancashire designed at empowering local people and highlighting how they can help in the fight against crime.
Chief Inspector Richard Blackburn, in charge of Neighbourhood Policing at Lancashire Constabulary, said: "Neighbourhood Policing is going from strength to strength in Lancashire - thanks to the efforts of a number of agencies.
"But residents of Lancashire can really play a part in making their communities safer by alerting us to the issues and concerns affecting them so we can address these.
"The ‘Not in My Neighbourhood Week' initiative provides an ideal opportunity to encourage the public to get involved and have their say on local policing. We want to work with residents to identify and solve the issues that concern them."
Residents are invited to visit the force website www.lancashire.police.uk for further information on their neighbourhood areas.
