The All New White Horse

Published: 15th December 2007 23:02
The White Horse in Helmshore is back!
Following a stint as an Italian restaurant, the new owners decided it was time for Helmshore's White Horse to make a comeback.

Following an extensive refurbishment, the White Horse has now re-opened as a pub/restaurant.

The White Horse

The new owners are brothers James and Andrew Morris and chef Max Endicott, who decided that they had the perfect opportunity to take the property back to its roots and re-open as the White Horse - a name that had adorned the front of the property on Helmshore Road for 100 or so years before being converted to an Italian restaurant.

The White Horse has a bar with seating area, and a fresh-looking, modern restaurant area.

Andrew, James and Max are hopeful that the new-look White Horse will have appeal for families, and that the bar area will attract locals and visitors looking for a drink in comfortable surroundings and a friendly atmosphere.  They are keen to state that the venue is no longer simply a restaurant, but also offers a place for couples and friends to meet and relax over a drink.

Drinkers wanted

For diners, bar meals are offered in the informal atmosphere of the bar area, whilst for a more special occasion, the excellent menu in the main restaurant is sure to have something to satisfy every palette.

Max has spent much of the last ten years training in Michelin-starred and Rosette resaurants and his cv includes time spent at highly-renowned restaurants such as Live Bait in Manchester and The Blue Pelican in Beverley.

The grand opening of the bar on 16th November was celebrated with a buffet and canapés.

During the time that the bar was closed for refurbishment, the owners held a community bonfire in recognition of the fact that a bonfire had traditionally been held on the site, and also to emphasise that the White Horse is truly a pub/restaurant for the whole of the community.

The White Horse is open daily, with the bar open all day and a 2am licence on Friday and Saturday.

The restaurant serves British food is open from 12.00noon - 2.30pm and 5.30 - 10.00pm and a festive menu is currently being offered.

A function room is also available for hire to celebrate events such as christenings and birthdays.

I came with my 2 children and had a lovely time. I thought £6.50 for a two course children's meal was very good value, especially the size of the portions. My 10 year old son said he was full up! a very rare occurrence!!
