Wedding Trends for 2009
| Published: 12th May 2009 12:47 |
As the 'credit crunch' settles in, it is forecast that 62% of couples are cutting their wedding budgets by an average 32% during 2009.
The impact of this is a change in trend and fashion surrounding the ideas of the wedding day.
Vintage is the style of the season with the 1920s being extremely popular with designers introducing a modern twist. Complementing this, the key colours this year are purple and grey with couples using silver to give a glitzy feel. Other use of strong accent colours such as shades of pink and yellow can also be entwined to enhance the grey and with the "credit crunch" in mind, brides will be looking for bridesmaids dresses to be re-usable after the big day.

One particular choice of venue on the increase this year is the use of farms, with proprietors hiring out converted barns that have been developed for such occasions. Careful and considerate selection of this type of venue can provide stunning backdrops and surroundings. In keeping with this "organic theme" an alternative favour for guests are small potted plants.
To keep within budget think of inviting a minimum number of attendees for the service and wedding breakfast, looking at doing more for fewer guests rather than less for more guests and let the evening proceedings allow you to invite everyone else.
On the subject of invitations, remain formal by sending invites via post but allow RSVPs via email. It will save you money and possibly result in prompter and more replies.
For pre and post wedding activities, that is, your stag/hen party and honeymoon, there are some key destinations for 2009 depending on your budget:
Stag/ Hen
Las Vegas
Prague
Dublin
Amsterdam
Blackpool
Honeymoon
French Polynesia
Indonesia
Japan
South Africa
Tanzania
Thailand
Zambia
