Create Direct Mail Copy That Works
| Published: 31st August 2008 10:16 |
Seven Tips to Ensure that Your Direct Mail Has the Desired Impact
1. You have 7 seconds to capture attention. Developing an eye-catching headline is the
most important part of your copy.
2. Potential customers must see or hear your business name 7 times before they remember
you, so continuously remind them.
3. Think about what's in it for them. Include 7 benefits your product or service provides -
avoid useless details about features.
4. Using 7 bullet points is an excellent way of highlighting the benefits of doing business
with you.
5. It's all about you; not we, we, we. Imagine you're communicating personally with the
reader. You will receive these benefits, you will increase your profits, you will be glad you
made the right choice.
6. 7 out of 10 pieces of direct mail are not personalised. Take extra time to create copy that
is personal to the reader. Create maximum impact.
7. Your direct mail must always capture attention, generate interest, create desire and
provide a call to action.
PS: The PS is the second most important part of your direct mail copy, so use it as a call to
action. For example, call me directly on 01706 831400 quoting GC003 before 29th February 2008
and I will personally write your direct mail copy at a dramatically reduced rate.
