Rossendale Ramblers is part of the national walking charity 'The Ramblers', which provides a network of over 500 local walking groups and aims to encourage walking and improve walking conditions in the local area.
The walks are available for everyone who wishes to join in.
The Rossendale Ramblers visit some of the spectacular countryside and places of interest around the Rossendale Valley and beyond.
There are varying degrees of difficulty to suit walkers of different abilities.
- An 'E' (Easier) graded walk is suitable for beginners or the infirm. The paths are generally good and there are few hills.
- An 'M' (Moderate) graded walk will generally be on good paths with some height gain.
- An 'I' (Intermediate) graded walk may not follow definite paths and will have some height gain. Some sections of the walk may be along rough paths and there may be some steep ascents and descents.
- If a walk is graded 'H' (Harder) there will be some steep ascents and descents and much of the walk may not be along defined paths. It may include a grade 1 scramble. Walkers need to be reasonably fit.
- A 'D' graded walk is the most demanding. It will involve heights and may include a grade 2 or 3 scramble.
Walks take place on Sunday and Wednesday.
The full walking programme can be found on the Rossendale Ramblers website, plus these walks will be featured in the calendar section on the home page of your AboutMyArea website.
For Wednesday walks, the meeting place is the top car park at Whitaker Park, Rawtenstall at 9.00am.
For Sunday walks, the meeting place is Kay Street car park, Rawtenstall - times vary.
Also on the Rossendale Ramblers website are photos from previous walks, so you have the chance to take a look at some of the places visited previously.
