Activities for Teenagers at Haslingden Library
Cybergames
On Mondays & Tuesdays from 4.30pm - 6.30pm a range of electronic games is available in the exhibition room - plus board games and craft activities.
Teenagers are welcome to come along and play the games free of charge and the activity is supervised by youth workers.
Cybergames activities take place at the same time as the Homework Club.
Again run by the Youth Team, the Homework Club aims to help teenagers with their homework problems. Whilst specifically aimed at 13-19 year olds, 12 year olds are also made welcome.
The Youth Team is made up of university students who, whilst not specialists in every subject, are able to draw on their experiences to assist with homework. This assistance may range from giving advice on how to structure answers to questions, to printing off examination questions from the internet.
Whilst at the Homework Club, students are able to use the computers (two are made available for the session) with free printing.
When school's out, the Homework Club marches on! These sessions are available during school holidays too.
The Learning Place
Taking place on Thursdays from 3.30pm to 5.00pm 'The Learning Place' offers homework support with free photocopying and printing for those attending.
After five visits to 'The Learning Place' attendees can borrow a DVD free of charge.
Saturday Homework Club
Funded by EMASS (Ethnic Minority Achievement Support Service), the Homework Club runs from 10.30am - 12.00 each Saturday.
Help is on hand for ages 10-16 and teenagers working towards their GCSEs.
Internet access is available with free printing.
There is no charge for admission to the Club.
