Haslingden Bowling Club is putting safety first by ensuring plastic glasses are used for the outdoor functions they host.
The polycarbonate glasses have been provided by local Neighbourhood Policing Officer PC Craig Mountford.
Unlike traditional glass pint pots, the polycarbonate ones won't break easily which means they are much less likely to cause serious injury if they are dropped or thrown. However, they are still very similar to traditional glasses in weight and appearance and, according to drinkers who have given them the thumbs up, there was no difference in the taste of their drinks. And polycarbonates keep beer cold for longer.
Keith Nuttal, a lifelong member and executive committee member of Haslingden Bowling Club said: "We look forward to putting the glasses to immediate use for the bowling season and various outdoor functions we host. We thank the Police for thinking about us and keeping us safe."
