Haslingden Street Fair 2008
| Published: 6th April 2008 21:33 |
Haslingden Street Fair 2008 will be staged on Saturday, 6th September, from 10am to 4.00pm.
The 2007 Fair was a fun-filled bonanza of street performances, local talent and charity stalls with almost 5,000 people attending on the day. It proved a fantastic fund-raiser for all of the charities that took part, with over 20 stalls sharing almost £5,000 in donations from the generous public. We are hoping to do even better for the charities this year!
If you'd like a stall at the event, these are available for £15 for charities and £20 for profit-making organisations.
Please contact Ian Pollock on 07933 096760 for further information and to book your stall.

The format for 2008 will be very similar to 2007 but this year it has been decided that to make it even more fantastic a theme will be adopted. As it is an Olympics year the theme will be an international flavour with the title 'Around the World in Many Ways'.
The idea is that the stalls and those tending them should reflect the people culture, dress and traditions etc of the various countries of the world. Which country you decide upon and the way you depict it will be your choice. There will not be a strict list of rules but everybody is invited to use their ingenuity to come up with their own ideas based on the theme.
And remember the effort involved is really worthwhile - there is the Haslingden Street Fair annual 'Best Stall Cup' with a miniature version which is kept permanently by the winners. PLUS PLUS PLUS...there is a generous donation from Community Action in Rossendale if the winning stall belongs to a charity.
One of the major attractions at last year's event was the Sparkle Dance Studio, whose girls staged several dazzling displays of their talents throughout the day.

This year will see lots of activities for children, such as Children's Corner and fun with basketball, a rodeo bull, trampolines and a Thomas the Tank Engine bouncy castle. There will be a four hour circus workshop for children and 'dinosaur walking'. The popular army climbing wall and Danny Zapparelli will be making a comeback and entertainment will also b provided by Sparkle Dance Studio and international dancers.
This year, the organisers would like to see even more talent from the local community. You could be a solo performer, a group or even a school. If you are interested in performing at Haslingden Street Fair 2008 then please write to us c/o the Mary Hindle Resource and Community, 12 Bury Road, Haslingden, Lancashire, BB4 5PL. Or you can email haslingdenstreetfair@hotmail.com or call Ian Pollock on 07933 096760.
Let us have a brief but clear picture of what type of performance you are offering and what expenses, if any, you would require us to cover. Although the event is some five months away the earlier it is planned the better it will be.
And remember - if you would love a career as a performer, what better showcase for your talents could you have than the famous Haslingden Street Fair?
