Search For a New Brownies Leader
| Published: 23rd May 2008 12:21 |
Local Brownies are on the look out for a new leader.
Eden Ward Councillor Darryl Smith visited one of the local Brownies packs in his ward to lend a helping hand in their search for a new Brownie Leader.
Existing Brownie Leader Julie Butterworth is hanging up her Brownie uniform in July after a long association of over 20 years due to family and career commitments.

Councillor Smith explained: "Julie has done a fantastic job with the Brownies over a long period of time but unfortunately is having to step down. My daughter attends Brownies and I know how much enjoyment she and her friends get from attending the weekly sessions and the new skills she has learned during her time as a Brownie. The Brownies parents all help out on a rota basis but unfortunately if we cannot find somebody to step in as Leader when Julie leaves in July the Brownie pack may well have to close".
Councillor Smith added "Perhaps there is somebody out there who was a Brownie themselves when they were younger or even a Scout! - as the position isn't restricted to females and they may wish to take on the challenge - they are fantastic set of children and it would be a real shame if they couldn't continue attending Brownies".
Full support and assistance will be offered to anybody who would like to take up the role and further information can be obtained from Julie Butterworth tel. 01706 82 9740 for anybody who may be interested.
