Daniel McParland from Carnforth was the overall winner of the men's event for the 2nd year running, closely followed by Roger Wilkins from Blackburn, with Marc Laithwaite from Wigan coming in 3rd.
The ladies section was won by Birmingham based Victoria Ruisus, with 2nd prize going to Kali Taylor from Skipton and 3rd to Gemma Adams from Preston.
The first Rossendale residents to complete the course were John Ferguson and Michelle Dew, who finished 17th and 48th respectively.
The first team were the Golden Oldies, comprising of well known sporting local residents, Ken Garrett, swimming, Roy Flanaghan, cycling and Jeremy Gold, running.
The 2005 winner and one of the event organisers, Garrie Prosser said: "It was very pleasing to see so many people coming to the Valley to compete. The feedback we received was really good and we are now establishing it as one of the premier events in the North West."
Pool's Manager for Rossendale Leisure Trust, Carole Fairhurst, said: "The event was a huge success and we would like to thank Valley company, Officiotek Digital Office Solutions, who kindly sponsored the t-shirts, Solve IT who sponsored the prizes, Speakmans for the bike racking and all the volunteer marshals, without whom an event like this could not go ahead."
The organisers would also like to thank local supermarket, Whiteheads, for providing the water for competitors and Rochdale restaurant, Bangla Fusion, for donating a £30 meal voucher as a prize, John Stephensons and Scottish Courage, who also donated prizes, and Rossendale Mountain Rescue for their first aid cover.
