One of the Trustees was reported to have said "Is anybody telling me that Burbage wouldn't be better off having its amenities improved by £80,000 to £100,000 per year. The answer to the Trustees is an unequivocal YES. Burbage's existing recreational amenities are not sufficient for the population we have. We need more pockets of open space that residents feel happy to use on a daily basis, and we need to hold on to what safe, flat and well used amenities we do have. The Trustees of this Charity, whose object is to benefit the residents of Burbage, do not seem to recognise that Colts Close Recreation Area is safe and secure, is well used extensively by all age groups and it can be used by all residents - anyone can walk on this area without permission being needed. So this particular asset of the Charity is already serving the purpose set out for it; clearly it is debateable that use of the sale proceeds can or will be.
Although it would be nice to have a recreation area 3 times the current size the important part is that it MUST BE SAFE AND SECURE for our children and not under threat from future development (already it has been moved once). People of Burbage do care about their children's safety and for that reason our Fund Raising events have been well supported. We have the support of the residents do the trustees?
