Town Park Comes Alive to the Sound of Music
Town parks come alive to the sound of music NOW that spring has arrived, Hinckley's Argents Mead is set to come alive with the sound of music.
An exciting programme of free concerts has been organised by the Borough Council and will take place in the bandstand on Saturdays throughout the spring and summer.
Saturday 3 May (12noon to 3pm) - The Society Jazz Band, specialists in Dixieland, swing and mainstream jazz, plus The 4+1 Jazz Band, with vocalist Michelle performing popular jazz standards.
Saturday 31 May (12noon to 2pm - The Enderby Wind Band making their Argents Mead debut.
Saturday 7 June (1pm to 3pm) - the always popular Fosse Brass Ensemble.
Saturday 28 June (1pm to 3pm) - The Cool Dudes Jazz Orchestra, stars of last year's Coventry Jazz Festival, with a repertoire including swing, bebop and jazz.
Saturday 12 July (1pm to 3pm) - Phoenix will provide a mix of rock and pop from an up-and-coming local band.
Saturday 26 July (1pm to 3pm) - another popular local band, Burbage Silver Band.
Saturday 23 August (3pm to 5pm) - The New Hall Band in another debut for Hinckley.
Saturday 6 September (1pm to 3pm - local duo Highly Strung provide a selection of rock, pop and folk.
Music in the Park 
Meanwhile, the 2008 dates have also been announced for the summer band concerts in Hollycroft Park.
All the concerts take place in the original art deco bandstand at the bottom end of Hollycroft Park from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, with a short interval in the middle, and are completely free of charge.
Refreshments are available in the interval courtesy of the Friends of Hollycroft Park.
