English Tourism Week in North West Leicestershire

Local residents in North West Leicestershire discover a wealth of brilliant attractions on their doorstep during English Tourism Week.

boards at Coalville MarketSpecial promotions are on offer from local attractions as part of the national Enjoy England Tourism Week campaign running from 10th to 18th March.
North West Leicestershire District Council`s tourism staff were on hand at Coalville Market on Saturday 10th March promoting local events and attractions as well as offering the chance to pick up discount vouchers for local attractions.
The tourism staff were joined by volunteers from Swannington Heritage Group promoting Hough Mill as well as local MP Andrew Bridgen and Councillor Alison Smith, North West Leicestershire District Council's Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Community Services, who unveilled new information boards at the Market.
The new information boards have recently been installed by North West Leicestershire District in Coalville and Ashby de la Zouch Council in partnership with East Midlands Airport, informing both residents and visitors about local events.
Councillor Alison Smith said:
"North West Leicestershire is a place where people and businesses feel they belong and are proud to call home.
"The fifth largest industry in the UK, tourism directly supports more than 4,300 jobs within the National Forest area. During English Tourism Week we want to showcase the fantastic facilities we have on our doorstep."
As part of Enjoy England Tourism Week Councillor Smith visited the corset exhibition at Snibston Discovery Centre in Coalville on Tuesday 13th March.
Other special promotions by local attractions and accommodation providers during English Tourism Week include a stunning exhibition of local photography at Ashby Museum by Tourism Information Assistant Lesley Hextall.
On Thursday 15th March Greenwood Days, who provide woodland and greenwood crafts in the National Forest, will be hosting a free open day for visitors to see expert craftsman Peter Wood in action - and even have a go at some of the woodland craft activities.
The Dandelion Hideaway at Osbaston are offering a homemade cake and basket of fruit with any ‘glamping' holiday reservation made that week for their romantic Bluebell canvas cottage.
Ashby de la Zouch Tourist Information Centre in North Street Ashby provides information on local events and attractions and is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9.30am - 5.00pm and Saturdays 9.30am - 4pm.
