Chester Is Host To UK Game Industry Network Event

The Game Developers North Meet-up is heading to Chester for it's 3rd meeting on the 21st of April.
The Meet-up is a professional networking event that has grown to boast over 80 attendees from the UK Video Game Development Industry.
The event was started by Samuel Mottershaw, Marketing Coordinator of Toxic Games in early 2012 and has moved venue twice as the attendee list outgrows the venue capacity. Now the event is Co-hosted by Project Static, White Paper Games and Paw Print Games and is set to be the largest so far.
Ben Milnes from Neston-based Project Static says: "This meeting is especially exciting as it is the first meeting since tax breaks for the UK Game Industry where announced in the 2012 budget. There are many future developments and exciting announcements that will be discussed at the meet-up as well as some invaluable networking with other people in the industry.
"Britain has dropped from third to sixth in the development rankings over the past five years due to the 'brain drain' of talent that has left Britain for countries such as France and Canada due to the generous tax breaks those countries offer the industry. 2012 should herald the start in the reversal of this trend as the UK Game Industry starts to see international interest due to the competitive tax incentives. 20% tax credits that have attracted Warner Bros and Disney to produce films in the UK are proof that Government tax breaks are valuable tools for attracting Talent and Studios to the UK."
Original hosts are Toxic Games (Creators of the highly successful video game Q.U.B.E.) along with Soundtrack and Sound Effects Producers for Q.U.B.E. Project Static are looking forward to future releases and developments with the game. Project Static are also undergoing expansion into development and Marketing for the industry with a very large joint venture being announced later this year.
Paw Print Games are releasing a new game entitled 'Wacky Rapids' and are moving into new bigger offices to accommodate future projects. White Paper Games are working on the Mysteriously titled Ether. Ether is a first person science fiction ghost story that explores the depth of human memories through a tale of forbidden technology, mystery, hope, love and death.
