Make Sure You’re On Time With Your Temporary Event Notice

Licensing officers at East Northamptonshire Council are urging organisers of events such as fetes, festivals, dances and some sports events to apply for their Temporary Event Notice (TEN) at least 10 working days before the start of the event.
A Temporary Event Notice allows village halls, schools and clubs to easily apply for, and put on, one off events involving the sale of alcohol and/or public entertainment.
Events covered by a TEN can last for up to 96 hours and must involve less than 500 people. The organiser of the event must submit two copies of the application to the Central Administration Unit with a fee of £21 at least ten working days before the event is due to take place. They must also send a copy to the local police.
Thomas Morrissey, Licensing Enforcement Officer says: ‘East Northamptonshire thrives on small cultural events that bring people together and the TEN system makes it much easier to put on ad hoc events. However, people are still leaving it to the last minute to apply and we cannot guarantee the application will be granted if they are late applying. We also need to consult the police and allow them time to make any objections or amendments.'
