East Northamptonshire Council Offers Unique Recycling Facility

Residents can now recycle their old cooking oil thanks to a unique new service by East Northamptonshire Council. As the only council in the county to offer this facility, the Chairman of East Northamptonshire Council, Cllr Dudley Hughes and a representative from Living Fuels will launch the service at Rushden Recycling Centre shortly after 11am on Tuesday 11 November.
There are two good reasons for recycling used cooking oil rather than throwing it away - it is an excellent energy source and pouring it down the sink can cause unseen problems in the sewers. Instead, you can now take your household cooking oil for recycling to East Northamptonshire Council's recycling centres on Newton Road, Rushden and Herne Park, Oundle.
The collected cooking oil is collected, filtered and processed by Living Fuels to make LF100, a fuel oil that doesn't need any other chemicals or supplements adding. Its purity and sustainability sets it apart it from all other bio-fuels, and its most important use is in the generation of carbon-neutral electricity for business and domestic use.
LF100 is also used by Living Fuels as fuel for the vehicles that collect the used cooking oil from recycling centres. This recycled oil is a truly renewable energy source and virtually carbon neutral
