Chance To Get Tamper Proof Number Plate Screws In East Northants

Operation Tiger continues with a series of Car Crime Awareness Days in East Northamptonshire in the coming weeks
As well as the new Tiger vehicle being out and about the Mobile Police Station will be involved in getting the message to people about how important it is to make sure your vehicle is as secure as possible.
Motorists who go along to the awareness days will be given a set of tamper proof number plate screws fitted free of charge while they wait.
The screws make it more difficult for offenders to take your number plate from your vehicle.
Sergeant Dennis Murray, who is spearheading Operation Tiger, said: "The East Northamptonshire North Safer Community Team have arranged these session to help make the lives of number plate thieves more difficult.
"All people need to do is go along to any of the sessions and members of the SCT will happily fit the screws which are another tool in our box to help tackle vehicle crime."
The sessions will take place on;
- Sunday 16 November, at Fermyn Woods, Brigstock, from 10am until 4pm
- Sunday 23 November at Barnwell Country Park, Oundle, from 10am until 4pm
- Sunday 7 December at Collyweston Slater Pub, Collyweston, from 10am until midday
As well as the chance to have the tamper proof screws fitted, people will also be offered the chance to speak to officers about any concerns they may have as well as get any further crime prevention advice they would like.
Tips on how to prevent becoming a victim of vehicle crime include;
- Never leave anything in your vehicle when you park, not even in the boot
- Always lock your vehicle, even if it will only be unattended for a few minutes. Never leave the keys inside
- Park in a secure, alarmed garage or on a driveway if you have one, otherwise park in a well-lit area
- Keep your car keys safe, secure and out of sight when you are at home
- Fit extra security devices to your car if they do not come as standard. If they are already supplied, make sure you use them
