Alice In Wonderland by Paul Boyd

This Christmas, The Castle Wellingborough invites audiences to fall down the rabbit hole and enjoy Paul Boyd's high-energy, musical spectacular Alice In Wonderland which runs from Tue 2 Dec until Wed 31 Dec.

Join Alice on her journey into wonderland, where along her way she meets a neurotic Caterpillar, a ‘jazzy' short-tempered Queen of Hearts, the theatrical Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and the eccentric inventor, the White Knight.

This quirky, exciting and energetic new adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classics ‘Alice In Wonderland' and ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass' will have audiences wanting to leap from their seat and join in the fun! Packed full of high-energy pop songs, a beautiful set, gorgeous costumes, tons of physical slapstick comedy, and some spectacular flying scenes; Alice in Wonderland will give audiences everything they want and more this Christmas!

The Castle's production of Paul Boyd's Alice In Wonderland, will be its English premiere. The Castle welcome Director Simon Wegrzyn whose previous credits include Warhorse Theatreworks production of A Comedy of Errors, and award-winning Choreographer and Movement Director Darren Royston. With a talented cast of 7 actors taking on over twenty characters, this is a fast-paced and fun-filled Christmas spectacular!

Tad Newton's Jazzfriends

The Castle are pleased to present a night of Christmas jazz, when Tad Newton and friends return to Wellingborough on Thu 4 Dec, 8pm.

Tad returns to The Castle with Zoltan Sagi and special guest Trevor Whiting on sax and clarinet, to play some of the best Jazz and Blues from years gone by. This is a perfect opportunity to escape the rush of late night Christmas shopping and enjoy some jazz.

With festive offerings from the back catalogue of Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and more, this is a early Christmas present for lovers of jazz.

New Art Club presents The Notcracker - Not just another Christmas show
Friday 5 and Saturday 6 December 7.45pm

The Castle are delighted to welcome comedy dance duo New Art Club to Wellingborough to perform their alternative to The Nutcracker on Fri 5 and Sat 6 Dec, 7.45pm.

New Art Club, aka Tom Roden and Pete Shenton, are the UK's only practitioners of comedy dance. Mixing philosophical comedy, live art and dance, and serious and silly in equal measures, their shows are brilliantly constructed and hilarious. They have also been described as the ‘Morecambe and Wise of dance'!

The Notcracker is an unashamedly silly deconstruction of previous Christmas stories and a serious reconstruction of a new one. Packed full of Christmas dances, Christmas philosophy, Christmas disaster and the triumph of good over evil - whatever that means!

The Castle is delighted to welcome comedian Jason Manford to Wellingborough to entertain audiences on Wed 10 Dec, 8pm.

Star of 8 out of 10 Cats' Jason is now embarking on his first live national tour and is making a stop at The Castle. His show is both exciting and hilarious and will have audiences begging for more.

With a genuine respect and love of the traditions of the comedy greats, this naturally funny performer is renowned for his strong, charming and wry, pin-point accurate observations.

If there is even the tiniest speck of humour to be mined from the interactions of our daily lives, Jason Manford is guaranteed to unearth it and transform it instantly into comedy gold.

Alex Garnett is one of the most in-demand session players in the UK, having played with Van Morrison, Jools Holland, Paul Weller and Albert King.

Alex was schooled in the bands of Ray Gelato, Buddy Guy, Alan Barnes and more, and has emerged leading his own Jazz Ambassadors Band, which has been exciting audiences in Europe over the past few years.

Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies

The Castle are pleased to welcome a fantastic folk band Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies on Tue 16 Dec, 8pm.

Alongside being described recently as ‘one of our best songwriters' by BBC Radio 2, Jez Lowe was nominated for the BBC Radio Folk Awards as ‘Folksinger of the Year' in December 2007.

Together with his band, The Bad Pennies, they have been the high point of the international folk scene for over a decade, frequently touring to the USA, Canada, Australia and beyond.

Audiences can enjoy toe-tapping melodies and bittersweet lyrics, complemented by the excellent band line-up of Kate Bramley on fiddle and vocals, Tyneside champion piper Andy May, and bass supreme David de la Haye on bass and vocals.

Dec Art at The Castle

East Midlands Monochrome group - Strictly Monochrome

The group celebrates its 10th anniversary next year. Members are spread around the area and come from Peterborough to Aylesbury and from Coventry to Cambridge. The group is non-competitive, solely supports black and white photography in both darkroom and light room disciplines, that's digital! It offers help, advice and friendliness to all who attend, all for £2 a meeting with lecturer and £1 for all other evenings. They have critique evenings and chat on members' photographs and have the added use of a professional portrait studio. Regular exhibitions of work are held at a variety of venues across the East Midlands, supporting other groups' exhibitions also.
Some work will be available for sale throughout the exhibition
