Castle Donington wool shop, Threads of Life, is holding a Learn to Knit workshop on Saturday 13th February 2010.

There are currently only 3 places still available for this workshop out of a possible 10.
This workshop is for beginners, or those who want to start again. All the basic skills will be taught including how to hold the needles, different methods of casting on and the basic stitches knit and purl. Understanding different yarns and their tensions, choosing suitable projects and reading simple patterns will all be covered.
This is a great opportunity to learn a skill that can give huge amounts of pleasure and satisfaction. Learning to create something with beautiful materials is a delight.

Professional Finishing workshop

This workshop will provide you with all the necessary skills needed to give your hand- knitted projects a professional finish. Techniques covered will include picking up stitches for necks and button bands, short row shaping, grafting and mattress stitch. You will be required to knit and bring with you some small stocking stitch samples which will enable you to get the most out of your day.
Participants will need to bring the following:
- Three 10x10cm stocking stitch squares in double knitting weight yarn. These are very important as we will use them throughout the day.
- A pair of 4mm and 3.25mm needles.
- Sewing up needles.
Knitting ability: This course is suitable for intermediate and experienced knitters. New knitters must have knowledge of the basic techniques.
