A day of fun at Abington Museum

Published: 13th June 2009 20:57

Visitors to Abington Park Museum are in for an action packed day of family fun with an historical twist next Saturday (20 June)

During the day there will be activities for all the family to enjoy. Creative workshops will include an opportunity for children to make Hunsbury Hill pots, Roman mosaics, Viking shields, Tudor pomanders, Civil War and Victorian paper dolls and crowns.

Reenactors will be in costume demonstrating archery, cookery, spinning and weaving and there will be demonstration bird flights by Icarus Falconry.

Visitors will also be able to follow a ‘Red Carpet' trail to discover famous people connected to Northampton and take part in a competition to win a family ticket to see The Gruffalo at the Royal & Derngate.

Councillor Tony Woods, leader of Northampton Borough Council, said: "Once again our museum is hosting a fantastic day of fun activities that will help bring the history of our town to life. It's bound to be a lot of fun and a day to remember."

The fun day kicks off at 10am and runs until 4pm on Saturday 20 June at Abington Park Museum. Admission is free, however, a small charge will be me made for some of the activities.
