Return of the Train in Abington Park

A new play train will soon be pulling into Abington Park just in time for the summer holidays, replacing the one destroyed by fire earlier this year.
The new train will be officially unveiled on Thursday 26 June at 3.30pm, and among the first 'passengers' will be children from
Child First Nursery.
The train has been kindly donated to the park by The Child First Nursery, with generous donations from county councillor Maureen Hill and cafe owner Tony Ansell to help pay for the work needed to repair the fire damaged play area.
Councillor Trini Crake, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for environment said: "Abington Park wouldn't be the same without the play train. Everyone knows the train and park goers of all ages have enjoyed riding it. We were shocked to see the pictures after the fire, so I would like to thank all the people who have helped us replace the train so quickly."
Tom Shea, director of Child First Nursery in Moulton said: "When we took over the nursery, the train was the only attraction there - but now we have so much to do, and our children knew that the train had gone from their local park, we all agreed that our train could be enjoyed by so many more children - so we were all happy to donate it to the Park."
