Skools Out - Summer School At The Derngate

Skool's Out!
Running from Monday 4 to Friday 8 August, the Summer School provides five days of fun and creativity.
Two groups will run side by side for different age groups. The theme for ages 8 to 12 is Pirates and Princesses, offering a week of action and adventure. The second group, for children aged from 13 to 18, will provide an intensive week of theatre training under the name of 5 Days, 1 Play.
Using the skills they have developed, both groups will devise an original piece of theatre which they will perform on the Derngate stage to a live audience at the end of the week.
The Summer School gives young people a chance to work in a professional environment, with a clear goal to aim towards. Royal & Derngate's Creative Projects Manager, Alex Soulsby says, "This is a unique and exciting time of year, giving the building over to the youth of Northamptonshire." He adds, "The week is young person-led. The process is hard work but the end result is always rewarding and spectacular."
Both Summer School groups run from Monday 4 to Friday 8 August, from 10.00am until 5.00pm each day.
