Balloon Festival
One of the great sites of the year is always the baloons flying over Northampton on the baloon festival weekend - so what does the festival hold for us as it enters it's 19th year..
The Sky's the limit this year for the Northampton Balloon Festival...
For the nineteenth Year running Northampton's Racecourse will host a spectacular international Balloon Festival. Northampton Borough Council will present a fabulous fun packed weekend from Friday 15thto Sunday 17th August.
The 2008 showcase includes a host of entertainment for all the family. Main events will include headlining musical acts and family entertainment, including a big top circus, wild west show, comedy night, fireworks display and much more.
In the kids' corner there will be face painting, sports activities and the return of the popular animal-petting farm. Older children will love the sports and leisure zone where they can try out their football skills at the David Beckham Academy plus there will be a Nintendo Wii fit area, and a chance to win your own Wii.
Opening times of the festival are 10.00am to 10.30pm Friday and Saturday and 10.00am to 7.00pm on Sunday. The cost is just £4.00 per day for an adult and free to children aged 16 and under. A weekend ticket prior to the event will be available at a discount price.
The balloon tethering, races and evening glows will form the centerpiece of the event. Alongside the balloons, the event will offer all the fun of the fair as well a wide variety of food and beverage and market stalls. The balloon festival will also host a fun packed 3 days entertainment programme from arena displays to staged entertainment for all the family.
Entertainment at the Balloon Festival
Balloon Races
The first race is at 6am on Friday. Daily race at 6am and 6pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Balloon Tethering
Throughout the day weather permitting.

Fireworks (Friday / Saturday night) 10.20pm*
The fireworks display is accompanied by music and will guarantee to leave you with a lasting memory of a great family day out.

Fun Fair and Rides
The Northampton Balloon Festival 2008 will feature rides for all the family.
Stage Entertainment
Entertainment ranging from local bands and artists to children's entertainment will showcase on the Northampton Balloon Festival stage.
Around the site there will also be a variety of marquees and displays, keep your eye out for the street entertainers around the site.
