The University of Northampton is playing host to the 3D Masters World Helicopter Championship, sponsored by international companies including The Align Corporation of Taiwan and the ElyQ company of Italy, at Park Campus from Friday, 25 - Sunday, 27 July, 2008.
This is the seventh year running that the University has hosted the competition which attracts hundreds of international visitors and competitors from over 20 countries from all over the globe, including Canada, Thailand, Australia and Taiwan.
Model helicopters with giant rotary spans will fly gracefully through the air performing amazing set manoeuvres or pieces to music. The night flying activity on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th also has to be seen to be believed.
Jeff Barringer, Managing Director, 3D Masters, commented:
"The fame and importance of 3D Masters on the world scene has increased exponentially year on year, as helicopter manufacturers and enthusiasts home-in on Northampton as the epicentre for the 3D Masters event. We even have sponsors from China for the first time this year and with an awful lot of kudos at stake, you can bet this year's competition will be hotly contested."
"The University offers us the unique combination of a large amount of affordable accommodation, a challenging flying area and the ability to include a wide range of activities associated with the event."
Tickets are on sale now priced at £20 for a family day-ticket and available on the gate at the University. Further information and breaking news can be found online at http://www.3dmasters.org.uk/
