Fairies, Fiends and Flatulence
With fascinating tales of his childhood, illustrated by evocative photographs, Eoin Colfer gives audiences a hilarious insight into the inspiration for teenage criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl, hero of his enormously popular novels for children, and other characters in the stories.
Children from seven upwards and their families will love this humorous show - entitled Artemis Fowl: Fairies, Fiends and Flatulence - and after the performance they will have the chance to ask Eoin questions and get their books signed by the author. The sixth book in the series, Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox, is published on 9 August and will be available to buy at the theatre on the day.
Eoin (pronounced ‘Owen') Colfer was a primary teacher in Wexford until his first Artemis Fowl novel took the world of children's fiction by storm. The books - featuring a young criminal mastermind who makes alliances with a fairy civilisation living under the earth - have sold nearly three million copies in the UK and Ireland. Winner of a Herald Angel Award for Performance at the 2004 Edinburgh Fringe (the first author to win such an award), Eoin has gone on to tour the UK, playing a sold out West End season in autumn 2006.
Audiences can see Eoin Colfer presenting his live show Artemis Fowl - Fairies, Fiends and Flatulence! at Royal & Derngate on Sunday 17 August at 2.00pm. Tickets are just £9.00. You can book your seats by calling the Box Office on 01604 624811 or book online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk. Think fairy. Think again!
