Upcoming Music Events at The Fishmarket
Pete Molinari Secret Gig
Thursday 14th August - 7:30-10:30pm FREE
Prior to his gig at The Green Man Festival and support for Richard Hawley, Pete Molinari pops in to join us for an impromptu Greenwich Village themed acoustic gig at The Fishmarket where some of this town's best acoustic artists will join him for the night.
Pete will be playing the Grand Piano for us and expect some great surprise collaborations! Totally free and a wonderful way to warm up for the weekend!
"Molinari's voice and haunting melodies left me feeling that the musical void in the British music scene will most definitely be filled. He can follow in the footsteps of Dylan and Guthrie" NME
"A singular talent....his distinctive voice and guitar establish him as a Medway Hank Williams. Worth investigating." - UNCUT
"The soul of American music distilled into the voice of a Cuban-heeled greaser from the Medway Delta" THE GUARDIAN
Peter Taylor
Saturday 30th August - 7pm
Peter Taylor is a local composer influenced by Rhys Chatham, Glenn Branca and Sonic Youth. As well as playing in local band Action Beat, Peter has been working on an original piece for 16 guitars which formed the basis of his acceptance to the Birmingham Conservatoire to study a Masters next year. Having now extended the composition to include more musicians Peter will be staging its debut performance at the Fishmarket. This will be a great opportunity to see some of the most inventive music talent that Northampton has to offer.
£3 on the door more info and reminders to follow.
Jeffery Lewis
Tuesday 9th September - 7pm
Having Jeffery Lewis to play has been something of an ambition here at the Fishmarket, so we are OVER THE MOON to announce that he will be playing in the not too distant future!
Jeffery Lewis is a hero of the NYC antifolk scene, a singer, songwriter, artist and storyteller of considerable talent who has released numerous records through Rough Trade and made friends all over the UK, sleeping on strangers floors before heading off the next day to bewitch a new town. His adventures and experiences on the road are catalogued in his songs and comic books which have earned him a cult following.
For more information about Jeff take a look at his website here
Also joining him are THE WAVE PICTURES who are quite simply one of the best British bands of the moment. Lyrically and melodically they can make you weep for joy and their previous incarnation as Darren Hayman's backing band shines though in their tales of the domestic and lovelorn.

Finally Oxford folk fiends The Mountain Parade complete the bill and are described thusly
"evoking 60's kitchen sink bubblegum and perfect pastoral pop, they create sweetest minimalist folk where words and instruments (though there are many, including ukulele, clarinet, trumpet, melodica, harmonium, oboe and various percussion) are used sparingly to create precise yet shambolic pop masterpieces"
Sounds good! More proof can be found here
Tickets are £6 in advance from The Fishmarket office and will go on sale from 5th August via www.wegottickets.com.
