The Lowdown
Is a voluntary organisation providing a multi-disciplinary support service to young people aged 12 to 25 years. Our belief is that no young person should experience mental or physical ill health unsupported. We provide a safe, friendly, non judgemental, confidential place for young people, enabling them to make decisions and choices to fulfil their potential and make their lives happier, through various free support services.
The Lowdown is based in Kingswell Street Northampton and provides a range of services including:
Information, counselling and support on any issue including - Relationships, Sexual Health, Mental and Physical Health, Eating Disorders, Anger, Abuse, Bereavement, Accommodation and Education
Crisis counselling available either face to face or via our helpline
Sexual Health Service providing free condoms and pregnancy testing; information and support on all aspects of sexual health and relationship issues plus signposting and referrals for STI testing and emergency contraception
Legal advice either face to face or via our helpline
Medical advice, information and support both face to face and over the telephone
Access to information on health care benefits or employment
A weekly satellite service for students based within Northampton College providing crisis and ongoing counselling, information, displays and signposting
Services at our Kingswell Street base are available 6 days per week
