Who will be the next Great Endeavour and will we capture a glimpse of him in the equine flesh at Towcester on Sunday when the action gets under way at 12.45 pm?
David Pipe’s galloping grey put his 19 rivals to the sword in Saturday’s £150,000 Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham yet it seems he is an even more familiar sight to Towcester race goers in November!
For not only did the seven year-old Great Palm gelding land a novices’ hurdle at the track in November 2008, he also opened his account over fences at Towcester some 12 months later.
Great Endeavour’s next target is the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury a week on Saturday, a day when Towcester also stages racing – so local racing fans will be able to watch the new star while embracing Towcester’s second exciting weekend fixture inside a week.
In recent seasons Towcester’s value as a schooling ground for future champions has been proven by the likes of Albertas Run (twice), Character Building and Silk Affair who all went on to land races at the Cheltenham Festival after scoring in Northamptonshire. Now welcome on board Great Endeavour...
