Representatives from over 40 voluntary sector organisations and 100 schools in Daventry and South Northants districts will meet together at the Make it happen! partnership building exhibition to be held at Towcester Racecourse on Thursday 26th June 2008 from 2.00pm
South Northants Volunteer Bureau, working with Northamptonshire County Council and Daventry Volunteer Centre, are planning the event which is designed to support schools as they prepare to deliver their Extended Schools programme in the two western Northamptonshire districts.
A varied and comprehensive selection of national, regional and local voluntary and community sector organisations that have an interest in working with schools will exhibit at the event. Seminars during the afternoon will explore ways of delivering aspects of the extended services programme in schools.
Matthew Payne from the Training & Development Agency for Schools will give a keynote address during the tea interval at 4.30 when representatives from school clusters in the two districts will also have the opportunity to network informally.
Barron Walton, Extended Schools Co-ordinator at SNVB said, “We believe this to be a unique and exciting initiative, led by the voluntary sector in western Northamptonshire, to promote their work and extend their capacity, as well as develop better links with schools and rural communities. The Extended Services programme gives the opportunity to bring voluntary and community sector organisations and services closer to the people and bring direct benefit to children and their families.”
