Abthorpe Report
All the Old Folks of the village were recently invited out to lunch by the Village Fund Group. Twelve were able to accept the invitation and a small convoy of cars driven by volunteers took them to Manor Farm at Catthorpe in Leicestershire.
Bob Jones, one of the participants, stated that a good time was had by all. His wife Tina agreed and described how at Manor Farm they had all been seated in a special room where they enjoyed a delicious meal of traditional English fare consisting of roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables with fresh strawberries and cream for dessert. Much of the food was sourced from Manor Farm itself. Tina reiterated that such outings are really good as they get people out with friends they know.
Melanina Guiliani was the only person brave enough to venture into the polytunnels to pick strawberries but she was determined as she wanted to make jam. All members of the group enjoyed the farm’s shop that had a huge variety of foods and drink for sale plus interesting gifts.
June Willsher one of the organisers was very pleased that everyone enjoyed themselves and hoped that another luncheon outing would be arranged in the not too distant future.
