The Royal British Legion Officially Launched 2009 Poppy Appeal in Towcester today (Sunday 25th October).
The event took place with military vehicles on the Market Square, the Chantry House was commandeered as a NAAFI serving bacon sandwiches.

The formal proceedings however took place outside St Lawerence Church.
Reverend Tony Bryer took the service with the Mayor of Towcester Councillor Chris Lofts, members of the Towcester Rotary Club.
The Garden of Remembrance will be open until mid November with crosses laid by old soldiers and the Mayor of Towcester.
This year's Royal British Legion fund raising effort is not only about remembering the fallen in past wars, but also about the present.
The Poppy Appeal raises money to support ex servicemen in need of our help. Sacrifices currently being made by our forces in Afghanistan make these events particularly significant.
Collections for the Poppy Appeal are organised by the Royal British Legion and the Rotary Club of Towcester and will continue until Remembrance Day on the 11th November.
Last year over £14,000 was raised in the Towcester area in support of this most worthy cause. Vintage military vehicle will also be on display outside Waitrose on the two Saturday mornings (31st October and 7th November) to back up the Rotary collectors.
This year marks 91 years since the end of WW1 and 70 years since the start of WW2. The pictures on the opposite page were taken in the centre of Towcester during 1914 and show just how similar Towcester remains 95 years later.
The actual Remembrance Day service, closing the Poppy Appeal, will be held at St Lawrence Church at 10.55 on the 8th November and all are invited to attend.
