New Change! zones are being launched in Northamptonshire County Council libraries next week (Monday 26th September).
Change! zones are a new collection of books covering everything from job seeking, skills improvement, business start up, volunteering opportunities, financial information and building confidence.
The Change! zones are being introduced in all of the county’s 36 libraries as a user-friendly way of bringing together all sorts of information and books to help county residents get through tough times such as unemployment, redundancy and financial difficulties, as well as anyone looking to making a change.
Cabinet member for customer services Councillor Heather Smith said: “The Change! zones include practical and helpful books and information aimed at supporting people in difficult times. By locating these resources in a zone, it will be easier for people to find what they need and maybe even inspire them to make a positive life change.”
The Change! zones are just one of the initiatives offered by the county’s libraries to help local people during difficult times.
- Free e-Fridays see the usual computer hire fee waived on Fridays to give people looking for work the opportunity to research jobs and apply online on the day after vacancies are usually published in local newspapers.
- Job clubs run in various libraries on a Friday, giving job seekers the opportunity to get free advice on careers, training, job hunting and writing CVs and applications. For more information about where the Job Clubs are held, please see www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/
