After thousands of children enjoyed summer activity hubs, people are being informed that early bird discounts will be offered for the October edition.

South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) and Cherwell District Council’s activity hubs ran from Monday, 24 July until Friday, 1 September 2017 with over 2,957 children attending across the two districts.

The hubs provide fun programmes of sports, games, arts and crafts for five to 15-year-olds.

Attendance at the summer hubs was boosted by a new online booking service which will reopen for the October half-term hubs on Monday, 25 September 2017. A 30 per cent discount will be available for people who book before Sunday, 1 October.

Cllr Karen Cooper, SNC’s portfolio holder for community engagement and wellbeing, said: “We know it can be tricky to keep kids entertained during the holidays, particularly for busy working parents, so it’s great that this activity programme has been so popular.

“Not only is it a help to parents, the children also have the opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills in a fun, safe environment.

“And with the introduction of the online booking facility, we are doing all we can to make sure it’s easy to book as well as to enjoy. With half-term around the corner I’d encourage anyone interested to book early to avoid disappointment.”

The half-term hubs will feature guest activities which change on a day-to-day basis, including fencing, tennis, trampoline and netball.

In South Northamptonshire the hubs will be running at Magdalen College School in Brackley and for the first time at the Gateway School in Tiffield,

Full day sessions, from 8.45am to 5pm, cost £18.95 while the shorter session, 8.45am to 3pm, costs £14.95.

Places are limited and must be booked in advance on a first-come-first-served basis.

The activities are open to girls and boys aged five to 15 years old and are split into two age groups, five to seven-year-olds and over-eights.
