As the electric motoring revolution gathers pace, planning permission has been given to the Porsche Centre in Towcester for an extension to cater for new car models including electric and hybrid vehicles.
On Thursday, 4 January 2018, South Northamptonshire Council’s Planning Committee (PC) granted permission for the redevelopment and extension of the existing centre in Old Tiffield Road.
PC chairman, Cllr Rebecca Breese, said: “The last few years have seen car manufacturers make a concerted drive away from the traditional combustion engine, and Porsche is no exception.
“This site is within an established employment area of the town, the applicant has said once complete it will create 15 new jobs, with another 25 further down the line if their projections prove correct.
“In keeping with the existing building, it will also use up derelict land and will help ensure Porsche in Towcester remain at the forefront of the electric revolution.”
The plans agreed this week are based on existing planning consent issued in April 2015 and expands the refit of the existing building, including a larger extension.
