9th Annual Towcester Beer Festival

This year there is a full medieval Sports Combat Tournament between a number of cohorts from around the country, culminating on Saturday early evening in a pitch battle involving 30 combatants! This year there is a full medieval Sports Combat Tournament between a number of cohorts from around the country, culminating on Saturday early evening in a pitch battle involving 30 combatants! 

Towcestrians Sports Club on Greens Norton Road, will be the venue for the 9th Annual Towcester Beer Festival over the weekend of 25th to 27th May 2018, sponsored by Miltons, Independent Residential Sales & letting.  

Once again there are 70 beers and ciders available to try over the weekend along with some terrific entertainment for the family and some great food!


Doors open at:    

  • Friday 25th May 5.30pm –11.30pm     
  • Saturday 26th May 12pm -    11.30pm  
  • Sunday 27th May 12pm –   10pm

Beers & Ciders

Once again this year there is a distinct focus on local beers from Northamptonshire, including Pot Belly, Crazey Daze; three brews from Gun Dog Ales of Woodford Halse including their excellent Amber Ale, Springer.  Of course award winning Towcester Mill Brewery will have a Golden Mild and Copper beer, Steamroller.  

From further afield Cornish Brewers Sharps, Atlantic Pale Ale and Sea Fury, will feature as will Skinners’ brazen bitter, Betty Stoggs  Ciders will come from far and wide again including our local Saxby ciders and Moonshine from Bristol.     

Music

Music features from Friday Sunday kicking off on Friday at 7pm with the Neggley Gents. Two blokes, two acoustic guitars and a hatful of songs, followed  by lively local band Blister covering a range of punk and pub rock songs 8.30pm to around 10.30pm.

Saturday's Music fest starts at 1.00pm with Craig Live a solo acoustic artist to ease you into the afternoon with classic covers with a splash of humour.  

Matt Hoban returns by popular demand to the beer fest 3.15pm with solo rock, blues and funk.  At around 4.45 Distracted hit the stage with blend of punk and rock covers from AC/DC, Sex Pistols and Blink 182.

GI Blues pick up the reins at 6.30pm. Last year they entertained us on Sunday afternoon and again will play a blend of funk and blues with some of the best local musicians headed up by Graham Ingle on vocals and percussion.  We then have two classic rock bands to finish off the evening.  

Neon Valley from around 8.30pm until 9.45pm  and then Crimson Monkey take us rocking through to 11.30pm.

Sunday starts with The Stokes at 2.30pm.  An enthusiastic group of local teenagers playing Indie sounds.  Established solo singer Hannah Faulkner plays from 3.30pm to 5.15pm  followed by MLC take us from 5.30pm to 6.30pm covering bands from Artic Monkey, Squeeze and Iggy Pop.  

Then finally to chill everything down Needle in the Hay takes his brand of Bowie inspired art pop through to 7.30pm.

Entertainment

There will be plenty for the kids during the daytime with bouncy slides, obstacle courses, and trampolines.  On Sunday soft ball for all organized by Towcester Tigers Softball team. 

There will be a 7 aside rugby tournament throughout the day on Saturday Mini & Junior touch rugby on Sunday.

Those who have seen these guys in previous years will agree, they really don’t hang back and this year we have more than ever!  

Food

This year we will have a selection of food vendors including a hog roast on Friday night; Saturday- burgers, Paella, fish and chips and delicious wood oven pizzas, joined on Sunday by a South African Bray.  

Come on and join us! free entry Friday, Saturday day time and Sunday, £5 per head after 6pm Saturday.
