Development Proposals for Towcester Vale

Published: 13th May 2008 09:13

South Northamptonshire Council is a statutory consultee for two of the ‘Towcester Vale’ planning applications that have been submitted by Persimmon and Bloor Homes. They are scheduled to be determined by the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) later this year.

Application ‘A’ is an outline application for the majority of the site to the south of Towcester, and proposes up to 3000 homes, a southern bypass, employment development, schools, as well as community and other associated facilities. Application ‘B’ relates only to part of a new road junction to link the proposed bypass to the A43.

South Northamptonshire Council have undertaken a review and appraisal of the proposals, and this is due to be reported to the Council’s Development Control Committee at their next meeting on Thursday 15th May.

The Committee meeting starts at 2.15pm at the Council Offices in Springfields, Towcester, and is open to the public who are welcome to attend. Following the meeting, the Council will forward its comments on the proposed development to WNDC, so that their views can be taken into account when WNDC’s Committee consider the applications.

Councillor John Townsend said: “This application is complex and of a large scale, and is very important for the long-term future and growth of Towcester.

“A number of objections to the scheme have already been raised by other consultees (such as the Highways Agency, CABE and Towcester Town Council). This will need to be addressed by the applicants, and the Council may wish to reserve the right to make further comments on the proposals at a later date, before the applications are determined by WNDC.”

The report can be viewed at the Council Offices, Springfields and on the Council’s website www.southnorthants.gov.uk
