South Northamptonshire Council, in partnership with South Northants and Daventry School Sport Partnership, are starting new after-school cycling clubs for children aged eight to eleven years old.
All sessions are coached by Mark McVitty, the Community Cycling Coach, employed jointly by South Northamptonshire Council and South Northants and Daventry School Sport Partnership. One club will be based at Brackley Leisure Centre and the other at Towcester Centre for Leisure. The club at Brackley Leisure Centre is every Thursday from 4pm – 5pm and the Towcester Centre for Leisure club is every Tuesday from 4pm - 5pm.
Councillor Sandi Smallman, portfolio holder for Healthier Communities, said: “These clubs are an important link between schools and our local cycling club, A5 Rangers. Children will be taught cycling skills and activities based on British Cycling’s ‘Go-Ride’ programme. The clubs will have a focus on the sport of cycling as well as cycling proficiency.”
Places are limited, but if you are interested in booking, then please contact Colin Hull, Sports Development Officer on 01327 322337.
