Rev’d Graham Buckle who was priested on Saturday.
The Rev’d Graham Buckle our Curate was ordained priest by the Bishop on Saturday at a service in Peterborough Cathedral. The following day, Sunday 1st July 2012, Graham was the celebrant at his very first Eucharist or Holy Communion. A large congregation at St Michael’s Church in Silverstone consisted mostly of members of Graham’s family plus parishioners from the five parishes in our Whittlewood Benefice namely Abthorpe, Paulerspury, Silverstone, Slapton and Whittlebury. Graham himself had chosen the hymns that included “Guide me o thou great Redeemer,” and “Love divine all loves excelling.”
At the conclusion of the service Graham invited everyone to a celebratory light lunch in the church rooms. Celebratory it certainly was, but light it certainly was not as a wonderful full meal was served by members of the congregations that included meats, quiches, salads, wines and all the trimmings plus a delicious array of desserts.
Graham certainly enjoyed a memorable beginning to his priestly career.
