St Margaret's Church, Alderton - the point of the Art Festival
Alderton Art Festival took place at the weekend, the Editor, a resident of Alderton was involved in setting up, running and taking down the festival - great fun, very rewarding and actually parts of it hard work.
I cannot report the takings yet, the figures are not in, but most of the village was involved in some way and friends and family were imported to help.
Thankfully the weather held.
Roger Odell in deep discussion whilst acting as steward during a quiet spell.
Brisk business on the raffle, and for the first time, wine by the glass and unframed pictures being offered.
Tea tent - brought comfort and sustinence to all - needed at least three people behind the counter to provide teas, cakes - and Graham managed to make countless bacon sandwiches until 1 pm on both days.
Alderton Antiques - the White Elephant store with bookshop across the path.
Tombola, Lucky Dip and Home Produce were very popular
A somewhat jaded editor performing the last official element of the festival auctioning (or attempting to despite considerable heckling) the flowers.
More pictures and details to follow...
On a personal note - the Editor would like to thank everyone in Alderton who helped at the Festival, family and friends, some from neighbouring villages - Aunty Mavis who makes the trip from London every year to help and of course the artists and visitors who made the event possible.
Early indications are that the event raised over £4500!
