Thousands turn out for traditional Boxing Day hunt meet

Huntsman Mick Wills leads the cavalry charge at Easton Neston on Boxing DayHuntsman Mick Wills leads the cavalry charge at Easton Neston on Boxing Day The Grafton Hunt met for the traditional Stirrup Cup at Easton Neston House and grounds on Boxing Day 2017.

The annual Boxing Day tradition was attended by thousands of hunt supporters and well wishers as Boxing Day dawned bright and sunny at Leon Max's Easton Neston estate near Towcester.

Many Towcester people and taken the opportunity to stretch their legs and walk up Northampton Road to see the spectacle.

The Master of the Grafton Hunt made a brief speech before the traditional Cavalry charge of which there were two this year, speaking he said, "We would like to thank all our supporters for coming to see us today."

The Boxing Day Meet of the Grafton is traditionally held on Boxing Day except when it falls on a Sunday.

Many supporters either go on to follow the hunt or up to Towcester Races who are holding one of their premier greyhound racing days.

This unpleasant tradition should stop. You shouldn’t report on it without mentioning that it’s a blood sport that has been made illegal. And don’t give us any of that ‘scent chasing’ rubbish, everyone knows what goes on.

Yes “lovely” privileged people killing animals for fun, then lying that it is a pest control excercise. Let’s not forget ‘it’s a tradition’ You people need to get real pastimes and leave the bloody fauna alone.
