Potterspury Pub Raises £1000 for RNLI

On Thursday, 6th December, the Chairman of the Northampton Branch of the RNLI, Jeff Sutherland-Kay, presented a special RNILI plaque to the licensees of the Cock Inn, Potterspury, Brian Dummer and Alison Cox, to mark the RNLI's appreciation for the generous donation of £1000 raised in only 6 months by the many generous customers of this popular Pub.
Lorraine Russell, Charities Organiser at The Cock was put in touch in May 2007 with the Towcester representative on the Committee of the Northampton Branch of the RNLI, who was able to provide official promotional material which Lorraine was able to put to good use in raising this impressive donation in so short a time.
There was an excellent turnout by regular customers attending the presentation and Jeff Sutherland-Kay and the Towcester Representative enjoyed a warm welcome. One customer who had taken part in 3 Fastnet Races brought a selection of dramatic photographs he had taken on board a yacht vividly depicting the life-threateni ng stormy conditions that our brave (mostly volunteer) RNLI Lifeboat crews have to face when on a "shout" to seafarers in distress.
The RNLI is one of the customers of The Cock Inn's favourite charities, and they have raised over £5000 for the RNLI over recent years.
They intend to start collecting again for the RNLI in 2008, when it is hoped that the RNLI will be able to bring a "D Class" inshore Lifeboat to Potterspury for the first time, in support of their fund-raising efforts.
