Free Energy Managers for Businesses
There are only a few weeks left for companies to take advantage of a scheme which enables them to reduce their energy bills and their carbon footprint by employing a specialist energy manager, free of charge, for up to four days per month.
Companies have until the end of March 08 to sign up for the free ‘part-time energy manager' service, which is funded by East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and delivered by TNEI in conjunction with Business Link.
With rising energy costs, companies are becoming more energy aware. However, few have the time or the resources to make the changes needed, which is why Business Link is providing a complete package of support to enable small to medium sized businesses in the region to improve their resource efficiency.
One of the key features of the programme is its flexibility. In addition to the secondment of a free part-time energy manager, the service also recognises that companies may require a mix of energy services from training to develop their in-house skills, through to risk assessments of future energy issues that may impact on the company.
Having an external, part-time energy manager assigned to the business means that a company's individual energy needs and issues can be assessed and addressed without incurring additional costs or disrupting its business operations.
John O'Reilly, Director of Business Support for emda is urging companies to take advantage of this support before it is too late.
"Through this service, businesses can make significant savings in their energy bills, which will help to improve both their profitability and their carbon footprint," said John. "In addition, Business Link is able to offer a complete package of support to improve resource efficiency in businesses. This ranges from an initial diagnostic with an experienced Business Link advisor, who can identify their needs, to financial support to enable businesses to put their efficiency plans into place."
Commenting on the service, Rachel Ward, senior energy consultant with TNEI Services, which is managing the energy manager programme said:
"Many companies know what they should be doing to cut their energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint, but their hands are tied by lack of knowledge and experience. Through the part-time energy managers' service, businesses get an extra pair of skilled hands to deliver energy efficiencies and help build their knowledge base for the future."
