Volunteering has many benefits
• Make new friends
• Learn new skills
• Improve your CV
• Raise your self esteem and confidence
• Make a difference
• Be an active part of your community
If you are in need of volunteers for your group or organisation we will do our best to help if you register with us please come in to met us and discuss you requirements, or if you prefer we can visit your organisation.
The activities we are involved with:
• We run Friends R Us a befriending project for lonely socially isolated older people and are always in need of more volunteers to visit people in their own homes once or twice a week
• We run a Care line Service - our volunteers phone housebound older people twice a week for a friendly chat.
• We also run a furniture recycling project in partnership with the probation service and supply furniture to those local people most in need for just a small delivery charge
Donations of furniture are always welcome.
• We provide support to local groups - help with Annual Reports, AGMs
writing constitutions and policies, assistance with setting up new groups,
help with identifying funding and with applications.
• We provide a reprographics service - typing, photocopying, laminating and binding are all available at very low cost to community groups
• We have a very nice training/meeting room for hire at £6.00 an hour plus free tea and coffee provided. Currently this is underused so if you need a meeting place do phone us

GARDENERS URGENTLY NEEDED
Do you like gardening? Would you like to help an older person enjoy their garden again by helping them to maintain it?
Gardens can be a big worry, instead of a joy to many older people some of whom will live close to you.
This It could help keep you fit too!!
If you think you would like to help and could spare a few hours each week over the summer please do get in touch.
References will be needed and you must be reliable-other than that enthusiasm is all you need
Please contact Pauline at Volunteer Centre Broxtowe (formerly Beeston Volunteer Centre) 0n 0115 9178080 to find out more about this opportunity or if you prefer e mail her at pauline@vcb.org.uk
Would you like to help out at the volunteer centre? We urgently need more volunteers to join our happy team. Previous experience is not necessary but we need people who have a good telephone manner and who are able to welcome visitors in our reception area in a professional way. You would need to be able to spare at least one morning or afternoon each week on a regular basis for this volunteer opportunity and references would be needed
If you would just like to volunteer occasionally rather than on a regular weekly basis we often need extra hands to enable us to cope with a variety of mailings on an as and when needed basis
Please contact Pauline at Volunteer Centre Broxtowe Tel 0115 9178080 if either of these opportunities interest you or you can e mail her at pauline@vcb.org.uk
