About Us:
Nottinghamshire Royal Society for the Blind (NRSB) is a local charity, which promotes greater independence for vision-impaired people of all ages throughout the county by providing support, advice, information, rehabilitation training and adapted leisure activities. As a local charity we rely heavily on donations to ensure the continuation of our essential services. All money raised for NRSB stays within Nottinghamshire, to help vision impaired children and adults to realise their true potential. Volunteers
NRSB are always looking for volunteers who are able to offer as little or as much time as they can. We currently have volunteering opportunities in the following areas;
• Events:
Nottinghamshire Royal Society for the Blind (NRSB) are looking for enthusiastic volunteers in your area to help distribute flyers to help raise awareness for their fundraising events such as Sponsored Walks, Abseils and Cycles. This will not be door-to-door flyering, but more placing larger quantities of promotional flyers in your local shops, pubs, cafes leisure centres etc. We will be looking for the volunteers to help out for just a few hours every couple of months, however we do have many other volunteering positions at NRSB for those who would like more commitment. • Minibus and Car Drivers: Minibus and car drivers are needed to help with bag drops/collections for NRSB's charity shops on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Volunteers must be willing to go out in all weathers and need to be reasonably fit. Car owner drivers are required to transport service users to and from NRSB Monday - Friday.• Charity Shop Volunteers: Needed in Radford, Stapleford and Mansfield Road, Nottingham to carry out basic retail tasks: manning tills, preparing and stocking goods and customer services. Various hours available.• Home Visiting Volunteers: Required to support the new Home Visiting service. The service will cover the whole county, so if you have a few hours a week to spare please give us a call.• Support Centre Volunteer: Required to deal with customer sales and enquiries in our Radford Support Centre. Minimum of half a day a week and a willingness to attend various training sessions is required. No experience necessary, just call us on 0115 9706806 for more information on how you can help.
