Speed up benefit claims

A new fast track benefit claims process is in place in Broxtowe Borough Council that promises to provide a decision on a claim within 24 hours if the form is correctly completed and all the relevant documents are produced. The new system applies to both council tax or housing benefit and once a claimant has all the information they simply contact the new claims appointment line on 0115 9173283 or 0115 9173396 to make an appointment.
The service helps speed up a claim for housing and council tax benefit if the claimant follows three simple steps
1. Fully complete your benefit application form.
2. Make sure you have all the information required to process your claim as well as proof of identity. Original documents are required. A checklist is on page 22 of the application form.
3. Make and appointment and take the completed application together with all the relevant information to the Benefit Section at Broxtowe Borough Council to have your claim checked and verified. Opening times for this service 9.00am to 4.00pm
When faced with the difficulties of paying a rent or Council Tax many residents of the borough don't realise that they may be able to claim a Benefit.
Residents can find out if they are eligible by contacting Housing or Council Tax Benefit on 0115 917 7777 or by visiting the website at www.broxtowe.gov.uk
The Council is promoting the new fast track system on posters and on the website where they are also able to get a wealth of other information about benefits and even pay bills on line.
The fast track service is not available to Self Employed persons or Students.
